Inequality in the Dance Industry
If the Music Industry works side by side with the Dance Industry why
are Dancers so unappreciated and paid unfairly?
According to
Dancers Alliance,
dancers have been unfairly paid and the mininum wage of a dancers
perfomance has been the same for the past 20 years.
“Our community as a whole is suffering so much in an ever-growing,
ever-profiting industry,” says one member of Dancers Alliance, which has
chapters in Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, and Miami. “We’re all at the
end of our rope trying to defend why we’re worth more than $500 for a
music video.”
